Sweden’s government has asked the country’s energy agency to work out proposals for the removal of grid connection fees for offshore wind, a move that could give development in the Baltic Sea a major boost as it pushes gigawatts of already-permitted projects closer to commercial viability.
“Sea-based wind power is part of achieving the target of 100% of renewable electricity generation in Sweden by 2040,” said Swedish energy minister Ibrahim Baylan.
