Wind OEM Siemens Gamesa notched up its biggest ever order in Thailand with a 260MW contract that it said will see the installation of Asia’s tallest wind turbines.
The Spain-based manufacturer will supply 103 of its G126-2.5MW machines to an unnamed local developer for the project in of Chaiyaphum, in northeast Thailand.
With a tower-height of 153 metres and 62-metre blades the turbines will reach 215-metres, which Siemens Gamesa said will beat the region’s previous record by five metres.
