A subsidiary of Xcel Energy has submitted an amended application for its high-profile 522MW Sagamore wind project in eastern New Mexico, after facing initial resistance from Public Regulation Commission (PRC) staff and avian conservationists.

Sagamore is a key piece of the company's 1.23GW Texas-New Mexico wind development initiative through 2020.

PRC staff questioned the extent the project would benefit ratepayers.
