Gabriel Alonso, the long-time chief executive of EDP Renewables North America, and among the highest profile US wind executives, will leave the company and be replaced by Miguel Ángel Prado, who previously oversaw M&A activity at Portuguese parent EDP Renováveis (EDPR).

Alonso had led Houston-based EDP Renewables North America since its formation, following parent EDPR’s 2007 acquisition of Horizon Wind Energy from Goldman Sachs, in what was then the biggest-ever deal in the global wind industry, according to reporting at the time in the Financial Times.
