Pattern Energy, the US-based renewables generator, has set itself up to make its first offshore wind investment, formally adding a 100MW nearshore development in Japan to the list of projects it is considering acquiring.

In its recent quarterly earnings report, Pattern confirmed that it has added the Ishikari project to the “Right of First Offer” (ROFO) list of acquisition targets it maintains with its sponsor company, Pattern Development, likely setting up a purchase over the next few years.
