India moved a step closer to joining the global offshore wind club with the commissioning of the first Lidar system off its shores by the international FOWIND consortium.

The Lidar unit, in the Gulf of Khambhat off the coast of Gujarat, will supply data as India’s Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) assesses the potential of offshore wind to help meet its ambitious 2022 renewable energy targets.
