French utility Engie and Japan’s Mitsui signed an agreement to sell 1.84GW in UK fossil-fired generation assets for £205m ($272.6m) to private equity firm Energy Capital Partners, to focus on low-carbon and flexible power generation.
Engie says the transaction is part of its 2016-18 transformation plan in line with the group’s ambition to reduce its exposure to merchant activities.
