German wind OEM Enercon has opened an office in Taiwan that will be its regional base as it looks to expand installations in Asia-Pacific.

The onshore wind turbine specialist said the Taipei office will serve the “important” Taiwanese market, and act as its operations hub as it looks at its options in new regional markets.

Taiwan – which is increasingly emerging as a key new offshore wind market – also has a potential of “at least 5GW” in the onshore market, Enercon said.
