By the end of this year, the US government intends to kick off the multi-year process leading to an offshore wind auction for additional New York zones, meaning a lease auction could happen by late 2019.

The Interior Department’s Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) is targeting the end of 2017 to issue a call for information and nominations regarding large development zones south of New York’s Long Island and New Jersey, triggering its lengthy leasing process.
