Belgian developer Parkwind has taken a stake in the 330MW Oriel project planned off Ireland, boosting the development’s ambitions to become the nation’s first commercial offshore wind project.

With the help of Parkwind as a strategic partner, Oriel aims to begin operations in the Irish Sea 22km off Dundalk, County Louth, by the end of the decade, contributing to Ireland’s 2020 renewable energy targets – a timeline it admits is “ambitious”.
