Trinity Industries sees stable demand in the US wind market for structural towers that support wind turbines through 2019, as the segment leader reported a $945m order backlog on 30 June.

The bookings provide “stable production visibility” through the end of this decade,” Bill McWhirter, who heads the energy equipment business at Dallas-based Trinity, said on a conference call.

“We remain encouraged about the demand outlook for new wind farm installations during the next few years given the production tax credit (PTC) and improvements in wind turbine technology,” he told analysts.
