The European Union and China at a summit in Brussels Friday made clear both want to move closer on renewable energies and CO2 emission trading in a reaction to the decision by US President Donald Trump to pull his country out of the Paris climate accord.

Trump Thursday had announced that the US will initiate a multi-year withdrawal process that would see the US pull out of the climate deal by late 2020, prompting defiant reactions across Europe.
