Goldwind Americas will acquire a second 160MW late-stage development wind project in the booming Texas market, giving it another high-profile opportunity to showcase its latest permanent-magnet direct-drive turbine technology to potential US buyers.

The Chinese vendor expects to install 64 of its 2.5MW turbines at the $250m Heart of Texas project 125 miles northwest of the state capital Austin. The machines will fly 121-meter-diameter rotors, giving them a larger swept area and energy output than the company’s other US turbines.
