Five years after last installing a turbine on US soil, India’s Suzlon is plotting a major US comeback, with plans to install a prototype turbine in Texas later this year and have 500MW of PTC-qualified capacity erected in 2018, Recharge has learned.

Suzlon hopes to win back former US customers like Iberdrola Renewables (now Avangrid) and Duke Energy as well as new ones, and may open a blade factory in the US once it gains more long-term market visibility, says chairman Tulsi Tanti.
