Iberdrola’s Avangrid will acquire a 50% stake in Vineyard Wind, the Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners-backed US offshore wind developer that controls a strategically located zone off the coast of Massachusetts, catapulting Avangrid into a position of leadership in the emerging US offshore market.
“It seems very obvious that offshore wind would be a very big part of our US growth plans,” Jonathan Cole, Iberdrola’s managing director for offshore wind, said on Tuesday at an industry conference.
