Dong Energy has started the decommissioning of the world’s first offshore wind farm at Vindeby off the Danish island of Lolland in the Baltic Sea, which it sees as a test case for the dismantling of much larger offshore arrays in the future.
The sub-5MW array consists of 11 small turbines supplied by Bonus Energy in 1991, which was later bought by Siemens Wind Power.
