National Australia Bank (NAB) has issued a green bond of €500m ($527m) aiming to provide financial backing to renewables investors for 1.1GW of capacity.

The bond is the biggest green bond from an Australian issuer to date and it “caters to strong investor demand” said NAB.

Proceeds from the bond will refinance renewable energy and low carbon transport projects and assets in the UK, Europe, Australia and the Americas, such as wind and solar generation and electrified rail infrastructure.
