Indian wind power prices dropped to 3.46 rupees/kWh ($0.052/kWh) after the country’s first auction for large-scale capacity.

The 1GW auction was held to generate clean power for transmission to low-wind states, and marked a break from the country’s traditional tariff-based model.

Local reports claimed Mytrah, Inox Wind, Green Infra and Adani Green Energy were among the winning bidders.

The tender prices keeps wind competitive with Indian PV power, which has seen big falls in recent years thanks to its own extensive programme of solar tenders.
