The 3,500-tonne, 14.4-metre diameter steel spars for developer Statoil's 30MW Buchan Deep floating wind power array off the UK have been completed at Navantia’s shipyard in Fene, Spain.
The five Hywind hulls will be topped with 6MW Siemens SWT-6.0-154s at Norsea’s assembly yard in Stord, Norway, before being transported across the North Sea for installation in water depths of more than 100 metres some 25km off Peterhead, Scotland.
