Goldwind has connected its flagship GW3S machine to the Chinese grid, the OEM reports.
The 140-metre-rotor prototype, located in Zhangbei Grassland in Hebei province, has a rated capacity of 3.4MW.
“The GW3S, as Goldwind’s next generation of 3.x MW platform, features scalable 3.0-3.5MW capacity, smart turbine controls and a structured design,” says a spokeswoman.
“This product platform was originated from Goldwind’s permanent magnet direct drive (PMDD) turbine technology, which has accumulated a track record of over 18,000 units of 1.5MW
