The Chinese government is expected to give its renewables strategy new teeth in 2017 to ensure that provinces give priority to wind and solar, rather than coal power, and begin to reduce the damagingly high amount of green-energy curtailment.
According to the National Energy Administration (NEA), roughly 21% of China’s installed wind capacity went to waste in the first half of 2016, up 6% from the preceding year.
