The solar goal marks a reduction in the 150GW previously expected by the country’s National Energy Administration (NEA).

The new target includes 60GW of distributed capacity and 5GW of concentrating solar power (CSP), said analyst Asia Europe Clean Energy (Solar) Advisory (AECEA).

AECEA said the goal could be considered a “minimum. Past experience showed – for example the 12th FYP (2011-2015) target of 35GW was exceeded by a good 20% leading to 43GW of installed capacity.
