The deal will see the Port of Nigg help deliver the £2.6bn ($3.8bn) wind project, which is being built by a consortium of UK utility SSE, Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners and China’s SDIC Power.
Beatrice will use Siemens 7MW turbines and the German group’s innovative offshore transformer module (OTM) grid-access technology.
The agreement with main contractor Siemens is a major boost for the Port of Nigg, where more than £45m has been invested in deep-water quayside facilities in a bid to establish itself as a key part of the offshore renewables supply chain.
