Seattle-based Amazon contracted to buy the power from developer Lincoln Clean Energy, which will build, own and operate the facility, now named Amazon Wind Farm Texas. It did not release terms of the transaction.

The facility in Scurry County will deploy more than 100 General Electric turbines. It is scheduled to begin commercial operation in late 2017.

“We’re excited to work with the community in Scurry County and Lincoln Clean Energy to generate 1,000,000 MWh of renewable energy each year from West Texas,” said Kara Hurst, Amazon’s director of sustainability.
