New REA data shows there are 35 standalone grid-scale storage projects and at least 1500 residential energy storage units in operation in the UK. These span technologies from lithium-ion batteries to pumped hydro systems.

The REA’s report, entitled Energy Storage in the UK – An Overview, finds there are at least 453MW of additional storage projects, mainly battery based, planned or under development.
