The facility brings to nearly £3.8bn the total funding that SSE has secured since July 2008. Over the past few months SSE has won the right to develop to a battery of massive renewables projects in UK waters.
The firm was the biggest winner in the Crown Estate’s recent leasing round for marine-energy sites off the coast of Scotland, taking home acreage worth some 800 megawatts which it will develop with its technology partners Aquamarine Power and OpenHydro.
