GHR nabbed the largest of three zones being tendered by Scotland’s Forestry Commission, which owns 10% of the country’s surface area, and is raising money to increase its tree-planting programme.

GHR managing director Alastair Riddell predicts the zone will yield about 50MW spread across more than 100 projects, including 20 larger than1MW and a host of smaller schemes.

The winners of the two smaller zones, covering Scotland’s centre and southern regions, have not been named.
