The Aquamarine deal will see BiFab build the Oyster 2 device over the next six months in its manufacturing plant at Methil on Scotland’s Firth of Forth. The machine is then scheduled to be installed on the seabed at the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) in Orkney next summer.
BiFab, which manufactures subsea structures and equipment, is widely seen as one of the brightest examples of a UK company formerly dedicated exclusively to offshore oil and gas having widened its scope to include renewables.
