Alstom will deliver the turbines by 2014 to the Guanyinyan project, which is being built on the Jinsha River in Yunnan province. The deal marks Alstom’s second order from Datang, one of China’s top five energy players.
The turbines will be made in Alstom’s new factory in Tianjin, which was inaugurated in November, and is capable of cranking out 30 hydro turbines and generators a year, with outputs ranging from 20MW to 1GW.
