Brazilian wind farms are supplying the same amount of electricity as thermal plants, and rapid growth has them well on the way to being the second-largest power source in the country after hydro, latest figures show.
According to the latest data from the Brazil Power Trading Chamber (CCEE), in May wind farms and fossil fuel thermoelectric plants both accounted for about 8% of supply to the grid.
