Britain’s Renewable Energy Association (REA) has strongly urged the UK's finance minister, Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak, to offer an extra £2bn ($2.5bn) of ‘ringfenced funding’ for future Contracts for Difference (CfD) auctions as a key policy objective when he unveils a stimulus package next week to address the problems created by the coronavirus pandemic.

A spokesperson for the trade body told Recharge that such a short term funding measure could add 15GW-20GW of extra renewables capacity over the next few years.
