Southeast Asia requires upwards of $140bn in clean-energy investments annually through to 2050 if renewables sources are to soon become the primary source of power generation in the region, according to the International Renewable Energy Agency (Irena).

The share of renewable energy in the power generation mix in the ten-member Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) is forecast to increase from 20% three years ago to 53% by the end of the decade.
