Iberdrola – one of the world’s biggest renewable energy operators – said it hopes to make record investments of more than €10bn ($11bn) this year despite the coronavirus crisis.

Group chairman Ignacio Galan detailed Iberdrola's response to the healthcare emergency while speaking remotely to shareholders during its annual meeting on Thursday morning.

Work on all Iberdrola's renewables projects in Spain was halted at the start of this week after the government there ordered a strengthened two-week lockdown, closing all construction sites across the country as fatalities caused by the virus soared.
