Finnish ocean energy developer AW-Energy has received certification from Lloyd’s Register (LR) for its WaveRoller device, anointing the pioneering technology as market-ready and giving a shot in the arm to the emerging wave power sector.
The seal of approval from LR, which comes following a recent programme of testing off Peniche, Portugal of a grid-connected 3MW version of its wave energy converter (WEC), is the final step in a series of certifications by LR as part of a DNV GL technology qualification process.
