Spanish oil major Repsol is pushing further into renewable energy, by buying into a massive Chilean wind and solar pipeline of fellow Spanish developer Grupo Ibereólica Renovables.

The two companies will create a joint venture with each holding 50%, in which Repsol through 2023 will inject €168m ($195m) by means of a capital increase.

The JV already has 78MW of renewable generation capacity in operation and 110MW in construction in Chile, with another 1.5GW
