Mexico has scrapped national renewable energy auctions as officials study a new policy based on local content requirements and regional tendering — but the government has no further details to offer the sector.
The policy shift was revealed by energy secretary Rocío Nahle during the opening of the Mexico Windpower event in the country’s capital, where she insisted that the country's recently-elected government recognises wind's ability to deliver cheap power via competitive auctions.
