Britain’s fledgling tidal and wave industries have been given a strategically important boost by a new study from the Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Catapult, which shows the sectors can meet the UK government’s so-called “triple test” for funding support.
The evidence-based report, Tidal Stream and Wave Energy Cost Reduction and Industrial Benefit, underscores that marine renewables technology now in development met the criteria of “achieving maximum carbon reduction; showing a clear cost reduction pathway, and demonstrating that the UK can be a world-leader in a global market.”
