A European onshore wind record-low bid of €20/MWh ($24.20/MWh) was among the winners of Spain’s latest renewable energy auctions.

The Spanish government awarded power deals for 1GW of wind and another 2GW of solar in the January tender, the first under the country’s new-look renewables support scheme based on a contract for difference (CfD) mechanism, said industry group WindEurope.

Wind bids ranged from €20-28.89/MWh, all in a 1GW technology-specific pot allocated to the onshore turbines, added WindEurope.

Solar took another 1GW in its own pot and swept the board in a further 1GW technology-neutral competition, with the lowest PV price reportedly coming in around €15/MWh.
