European technology development body InnoEnergy has launched a global call for energy storage start-ups, with plans to award business-support packages to 15 winners and €100,000 ($117,000) as top prize.

Working with the European Battery Alliance (EBA), InnoEnergy is searching for innovative technologies or business models focused on applications in areas including transportation, grid, distributed and mobile energy storage, as well as those that would provide energy efficiency improvements and emissions reductions.
