France’s wind energy association (FEE) has welcomed the appointment of François de Rugy as new minister for the ecological transition, but at the same time urged him to take action to unblock more than 3GW in wind projects and commit to capacity targets for 2030.

French President Emmanuel Macron named National Assembly speaker Rugy as the new minister after his predecessor Nicolas Hulot resigned last week in a surprise move over frustrations at not being able to meaningfully help the environment or convince the country to phase-out nuclear power.
