Spanish renewables giant Iberdrola faces an smoother path to integrating new takeover trophy Infigen Energy after its former rival to acquire the Australian group bowed out and sold its stake, said analysts.

UAC Energy sold its own 20% share in Infigen, one of Australia’s largest renewable energy operators, conceding final defeat in a months-long bidding race.

Iberdrola had already taken a controlling interest in Infigen when it passed a 50% tally of voting shares in the company in August.
