French energy group Engie plans to add 9GW of renewable capacity by 2022 as it plays “a major role” in sectors including offshore wind, the company said.

Engie will spend €2.3-2.8bn ($2.6-3.2bn) on boosting its renewables capacity in the 2019-21 period, as part of a wider strategic shift that will include focusing on fewer markets and disposing of assets. Part of its geographic focus will seek growth in Africa and Southeast Asia.
