Chile’s new energy minister, Susana Jiménez, has pledged to modernise the country’s energy legislation to promote technology neutral contracting, modernise the power distribution system – to include new smart-grid technologies and distributed generation – and to prepare a plan to decarbonise the country’s economy.

Jimenez was speaking at the annual Renewable Energy Dinner, which was promoted by the Chilean Association of Renewable Energy (ACERA) to celebrate 15 years since its creation.
