Solar PV will be the shining star in Brazil over the next decade as non-hydro renewable energy capacity reaches 60GW by 2030, if the country can overcome grid connection problems, according to a new report.

“The main challenges for Brazil’s power sector are its overdependence on cheap hydropower for base-load capacity and lack of a robust power grid infrastructure,” says Arkapal Sil, Power Industry Analyst at UK consulting firm GlobalData.
