R V Ahilan has been appointed to the post of CEO at international marine and engineering consultancy the LOC Group.

Ahilan, who takes on the job after a 30-plus year career in the energy industry, including executive roles at DNV GL, Garrad Hassan and Noble Denton, joined LOC in 2016.

The move, which coincides with former joint-chief Jerome Rutler moving into the post of deputy CEO, with oversight of operations and mergers and acquisitions, comes as “greater market focus” is being placed at LOC on the shipping, oil & gas and renewables sectors.

“I am really excited to take the helm today at an exciting time for LOC Group and the sectors in which we operate, as we look to broaden our services offering and geographical presence, make acquisitions to build on our strong international platform and continue to deliver the best possible service to our clients,” said Ahilan.

With the appointment, Ian Cummins, who joined LOC last year from BP, become the head of LOC’s London business, in addition to leading the consultancy's oil & gas division, while Andrew Squire will handle its shipping unit.

Ahilan, a Recharge Thought Leader, will continue to head up LOC’s renewables business activities.
