Duke Energy will produce or purchase 602MW of electric power from 14 new utility-scale solar projects to be located in North and South Carolina, solidifying their combined second place PV generation capacity behind US market leader California.
The projects representing $750m total capital investment were the most economically competitive of 78 that were submitted when bidding opened last July under North Carolina’s Competitive Procurement of Renewable Energy (CPRE) programme.
