Chile plans to speed up the closing down of polluting coal plants, increase its electric vehicle fleet and boost distributed power generation – but the growth of utility-scale renewables will depend on crucial improvements to the transmission network.
Those were the main policy messages by energy minister Susana Jiménez at the annual meeting of the Renewable Energy Association (Acera) in Santiago, as the country gears up to host the COP25 climate summit in December.
