Chinese wind power giant Goldwind has invested in UK solar technology innovator Oxford Photovoltaics.

Goldwind invested £21m ($27.8m) in Oxford PV, which is working on perovskite-based solar cell technology designed to boost the performance of silicon photovoltaics.

The Chinese group provided the bulk of the £31m raised by Oxford PV in its latest funding round, which will allow the technology to “move into the commercial phase”.
