With a new decade on the horizon, the solar industry in Texas can’t be accused of lacking ambition. It aims at nothing less than ending wind’s 20-year reign as renewables king in the largest US state electric power market.

“The solar train is coming,” Ward Marshall, a senior commercial executive at Pattern Development, told an Infocast conference here on ERCOT, which operates the grid and wholesale power market serving 90% of the state’s electric load.
