The decision by Argentina’s government to extend the commissioning date of more than 1GW of stalled wind and solar projects by up to one year could lead to a new wave of financing and construction.

Many of the 88 wind, solar, biomass and small-hydro projects contracted in Round 2 of the RenovAr renewables programme in late 2017 have been delayed by the currency crisis that struck the country in 2018, leaving developers unable to seal financing and equipment-supply deals.
